Privacy Policy — Halfslice

1. Overview

Halfslice ("we," "us," "our") operates Halfslice (halfslice.gg), a browser-based precision skill game. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and your rights regarding that information.

This policy is intended to comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) and applies to all users.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal information when you submit a score to the leaderboard:

Identifiers

A randomly generated anonymous user identifier (UUID) created when you first play — not linked to your name, email, or device
A short display code (e.g., "Player-a8x2k") derived from that identifier
An optional display name you choose (maximum 20 characters)

Internet or Network Activity

Your gameplay inputs (click coordinates and timestamps) stored as replay data for score verification
Your score, slice ratio, and round streak for the submitted round

Inferences

Personal best scores and play history derived from submitted scores

We do not collect your name, email address, IP address, precise geolocation, financial information, health information, or any other sensitive personal information.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information only for the following purposes:

Leaderboard: To display your score and display name on the public leaderboard
Score verification: Replay inputs are stored to verify scores are legitimate and detect cheating
Game functionality: Your anonymous identifier allows your scores to be associated across sessions

We do not use your information for advertising, marketing profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the leaderboard.

4. Local Storage

The game uses your browser's local storage to save your personal best scores, round history, and anonymous user identifier. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers unless you submit a score to the leaderboard.

You can clear this data at any time through your browser settings (typically under "Clear browsing data" or "Site data").

5. Data Retention

Server-side data — including your scores, replay inputs, display name, and anonymous identifier — is retained for as long as your account is active. An account is considered inactive when no scores have been submitted for 2 years. Inactive accounts and all associated data are deleted automatically at that time.

You may also request deletion at any time (see Section 8).

6. Third-Party Services

We use Supabase (Supabase, Inc.) to store leaderboard data and run backend verification functions. Supabase acts as a service provider — it processes your data only on our behalf and is contractually prohibited from using your data for its own purposes. We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on this site. Google AdSense is operated by Google LLC and uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to serve ads. Google may use information about your visits to this and other websites to show you relevant advertisements. This may include the use of the DoubleClick cookie, which enables Google and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ad Settings, or you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info. 6a. Cookies

Halfslice itself does not set any tracking cookies. However, Google AdSense may set cookies on your device to serve and measure advertisements. These cookies are controlled by Google, not by us. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings or via Google's Ad Settings.

The game uses your browser's local storage (not cookies) to save gameplay data on your device. This data is not used for tracking or advertising.

7. No Sale or Sharing of Personal Information

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising. Your data is used solely to operate the game's leaderboard.

8. Your Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under CCPA/CPRA:

Right to Know: Request a description of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
Right to Delete: Request deletion of the personal information we hold about you. Deletion will remove you from the leaderboard.
Right to Correct: Request correction of inaccurate personal information we hold about you.
Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not penalize you for exercising any of these rights. Exercising your rights will not affect your ability to play the game.
Right to Opt-Out of Sale or Sharing: We do not sell or share your personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of.

9. How to Exercise Your Rights

To submit a privacy request, email us at halfslicegg@gmail.com with the subject line "Privacy Request." Please include:

The right you wish to exercise (Know, Delete, or Correct)
Your display name or anonymous player ID (e.g., "Player-a8x2k"), if known

We will respond within 45 calendar days. If additional time is needed, we will notify you and may extend the response period by up to 45 additional days.

10. Children

This game is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us at halfslicegg@gmail.com and we will delete it promptly.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy periodically. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. We encourage you to review this policy from time to time.
